The Story Of The Millipede Mama
Prelude
Millipedes are grouped as types of living organisms that have no back bones with external skeleton that protects their bodies unlike mammals they have internal skeleton, except for those with shells, They have two pairs of legs per segment with elongated cylindrical bodies.
This name millipede is an extract from Latin word milli meaning thousands and pede meaning foot, despite the fact that the word represents thousands there isn’t any known millipede with 1000 legs but they usually range from 36 to 400 which is common and for the rarest specie has up to 750, Jongololo the giant African millipede is the largest of all,
Most millipedes eat decaying leaves and other dead plant matter, moisturising the food with secretions and then scraping it in with its jaws.
Millipedes range from 2 to 280 millimetres in length, and can have as few as eleven, to over a hundred segments. They are generally black or brown in color, although there are few brightly colored species.
The Legend
Once upon a time when the world was young,
There was a new millipede hatchling,
The new hatchling was very nervous and shy,
He couldn’t know which leg to start with because he had so many.
Then with a sad and discouraged voice he asked his mom
The millipede mama looked at her new baby with a bright smile and eyes of joy for a moment and said;
“Aww Poor young one through countless generations we have been walking without worrying which leg to start with,
you don’t have to know which leg to begin with honey, you just walk and all the legs will obey ”
From that moment the new baby could walk on anything with comfidence never to worry which leg should do what or go where anymore.
~End~
