Upanishads Quotes
Upanishad literally means a “sitting down beside”, a session, an esoteric doctrine. In a wider sense, the Upanishads are the conclusion of the Vedas and are devoted to theological and philosophical speculations on the nature of the world and man. The fundamental doctrine of the Upanishads is the identity of the individual soul (atman) with the world soul (adman-brahma). The formula “tat tvam asi”, “thou art that”, is the keynote of all Upanishad teaching. The following excerpts will exemplify this point.
Thou Art That
The father said to Svataketu, his little son:
“Bring me a fig from that fig tree yonder.”
“Here is one, sir.”
“Break it.”
“It is broken, sir.”
“What do you see there?”
“Some little seeds, sir.”
“Break one of them.”
“It is broken, sir.”
“And what do you see now?”
“Nothing whatsoever.”
Then the father said to his son: “Of that subtleness which you cannot see is the great fig tree made. In that subtleness all that exists has its essence. That is the True, that is the Self, and thou art That.”
“Pray sir,” said the son, “tell me more.”
“So be it, my child,” the father replied and he said, “place this salt in water and come to me tomorrow morning.”
The son did as he was told. Next morning the father said, “Bring me the salt which you put in the water.” The son felt for it but could not find it, for the salt had dissolved.
The father said, “Taste some of the water from the surface. How is it?”
“Salty.”
“Taste from the middle. How does it taste?”
“Salty.”
“Taste some from the bottom. How is it?”
“Salty.”
The father said, “Throw the water away and then come back to me.”
The son did so; but the salt was not lost, for salt exists forever. Then the father said, “Likewise in this body of yours, my child, you cannot perceive the True; but there it is. In the subtle essence all that exists has its being. That is the True, that is the Self, andd thou, Svetaketu, art That.”
- From the Chandogya Upanishad
“The Self, free from evil, ageless, deathless, sorrowless, hungerless, thirstless, real of desire, real of purpose, – that Self is to be sought after and inquired about, that Self is to be realized. All worlds he wins and all desires who understands the Self,” said Prajapati.
Both the gods and the demons heard of this. “Come,” they said, “let us seek out this Self so that we can win all the worlds and the fulfilment of all desires.”
Thereupon Indra of the gods and Virochana of the demons set out and approached Prajapati, the famous teacher. They stayed with him as students for thirty two years. Then Prajapati asked them: “For what reason have you lived here all this time?”
And they replied: “The Self, free from evil, ageless, deathless, sorrowless, hungerless, thirstless, real of desire, real of purpose, this should men inquire after and should seek to know. All the worlds he wins and all desires who realizes this Self. This they report to be your saying, sir, and that is why we have stayed.”
Prajapati said to them: “The Being who is seen in the eye – that is the Self. That is deathless, that is fearless an that is Brahman.”
“Sir,” inquired the disciples, “who is seen reflected in water or in a mirror?”
“He, the Atman,” was the reply. And Prajapati added: “Look at yourselves in the water, and whatever you do not understand, come and tell me.”
Indra and Virochana looked at themselves in the water and when Prajapati asked them what they had seen, they replied: “Sir, we see the whole of ourselves, even down to our hair and nails.” Then Prajapati bid them put on their finest clothes and look again at their “selves” in the water. This they did and when asked again what they had seen in the water, they answered: “Sir, we see the Self, exactly like ourselves, well adorned in our finest clothes.”
And Prajapati said: “The Self is indeed seen in these. That Self is deathless and fearless, and that is Brahman.” And the students went away content.
But gazing after them Prajapati lamented: “They have gone away without comprehending the Self. Whoever follows this doctrine, as it is false, must surely perish.”
Satisfied that he had found the Self, Virochana returned to the demons and explained to them that the bodily self alone should be served and that he who serves the body gains both worlds, this and the next. And this, in effect, is the doctrine of the demons; and when one of them dies they furnish his body with food and clothing, imagining that therewith he will win the world beyond.
But Indra, on his way back to the gods realized the uselessness of this knowledge. “As the Self,” he reflected, “seems to be well adorned, well dressed when the body is well dressed, so too will it be blind when the body is blind, lame if the body is lame, deformed if the body is deformed. Nay more, this same Self will perish when the body perishes. I see no good in such knowledge.” And so he returned to the teacher for further instruction. Prajapati received him kindly and bade him stay with him for another two-and-thirty years, after which he said to him:
“He who wanders about rejoicing in dreams – he is the Self. That is deathless and fearless, and that is Brahman.”
Indra departed again, content of heart. But before he had rejoined the other angelic beings, he realized the uselessness of that knowledge also. “True it is,” he said to himself, “that this new Self does not become blind if the body is blind, not lame, not deformed if the body is lame or deformed; but nevertheless even in dreams the Self is conscious of many sufferings. So I see no good even in this teaching.”
And so, once more he returned to Prajapati for more instruction and stayed with him for another two-and-thirty years. At the end of that time Prajapati taught him thus: “When a man is asleep and in perfect peace, dreaming no dreams, then he realizes the Self. That is deathless, that is fearless, and that is Brahman.”
Indra departed, content of heart. But even before he had reached home, he felt the fallacy of this knowledge also. “When one is asleep,” he thought, “one does not know oneself as ‘This is I’. One is not conscious of any existence. I see no good in this knowledge either.”
So Indra went back to Prajapati once again to be taught. The teacher bade him stay another five years. At the end of that time, after having stayed with Prajapati altogether for one hundred years, the sage taught him the highest truth of the Self.
“This body,” he said, “is mortal and forever in the clutch of death. But within it resides the Self, immortal and without form. This Self, when embodied, is subject to pleasure and pain. But joy and sorrow touch not what is unembodied. Rising above physical consciousness, knowing the Self as unembodied, distinct from the sense-organs, one rejoices and passes into the Supreme Light.”
- From the Chandogya Upanishad.
Study is not Enough
The Self is not realizable by study nor by intelligence and learning. The Self reveals itself only to him who devotes himself entirely to the Self.
- Katha Upanishad
Two Birds
Two birds reside together in one tree which is the body. One of them, the soul, consumes the fruits of its actions, but the other, God, without partaking of them, witnesses all.
The soul, pressed down in the body, being deluded with ignorance, grieves at its own insufficiency, but when it perceives its mate, the origin itself, it feels relieved.
A wise man, knowing God as residing in all creatures, forsakes all idea of duality, being convinced that there is only one existence which is God. He directs all his senses toward God alone and on Him exclusively he places his love, abstracting his mind from all worldly objects.
- Munduk Upanishad.
I Get Distracted So Easily-What Should I Do
When your mind is easily distracted you can’t really accomplish much in life, you will start one sentence and end up with something which is irrelevant to what you started, it is like the feather in the wind, when it comes to long term projects you will accomplish none simply because you can’t focus on your projects. But you must differentiate between multi-tasking and being distracted.
Causes.
Our minds are indeed very complex but once you begin to understand how it works, then you will appreciate its true potential. There are couple of things that maybe the causes of a distractive mind;
- Means of operation; In the car race it is the driver who wins the race and not the vehicle, the way you operate your mind can be a cause of distraction, for example there are people who just do and react to whatever comes in their way, if they are browsing the internet they would respond to anything that displays on the computer, they would chat with anyone who wants to chat, click on any ads that is on the page. This is a mind programming which takes its form and result into a distractive mind.
- Environmental; we all know that in a noisy environment it is almost impossible to concentrate, that is just the tip of the iceberg, as our brain receive a lot of information that we are not even aware of, for example now as you are reading you don’t really pay attention to the temperature of your room, there can be a music playing in the background but you don’t even pay much attention to it, nevertheless your brain receives these information without you knowing.
- Psychological; There are people who have been trying to stay focus all their lives and it was a successful failure to stay concentrated, this is due to their early childhood stages where they grew up in a not so organized environment, which takes form as a distracted pattern deep within their subconscious mind.
- Lack of self-confidence: Some people are just easily distracted than others because of their personality, as for “means of operation” if you don’t have self-confidence it is easy to be distracted because your mind follows the pattern of your personality and whatever you try to do and get interrupted you will just stop what you are doing and do what others think or want you to do, which will take form and manifest as a distracted mind. And embed deep in your subconscious mind.
- Health, health counts on everything, some other types of food keeps makes you lazy and inactive, and it doesn’t add much nutrients to your body, as you east healthy your brain can repair itself easily and makes new pathways as you program it.
- Genetic; It is true that we inherit some of our parents behaviour, and being distracted easily can be a caused by our own genes, however this can be changed
Solution
A proper diagnose is half the cure if you can clearly determine the cause of your distracted mind then it will be easy to do something about it, and there are couple of things you can do to increase your focus and concentration such as
Meditation, if you can take about 5 minutes every day do a relaxation exercise and try to focus on your breath, when any though comes in your mind just let it go an keep focusing on your breath. This is a good mental discipline and you will begin to see the result. as for someone who is easily distracted, guided meditation can be handy.
Affirmations: You can set write down a positive affirmation that will help you improve your self-confidence and keep you focused.
Physical activities, when you are not active your mind takes the same pattern it just flows with the norm and whenever you try to do something different it try to keep you back in the same lazy pattern, but when you do physical activities like martial arts, sports, doing your chores etc. It will increase your focus and concentration.
Hypnosis: the key is not to give up if you try something couple of times and it doesn’t work always be open to try what works for you, hypnosis can be used to pin point the cause, and can also be used as a tool to reprogram your subconscious mind.
In general you can change your lifestyle, as everything has two poles you can do put yourself in a lifestyle keeps you focused, set plans and goals, make challenges always have something to do work on your ideas, set up projects and your mind will take that form, Everything is hard when you begin but once you develop the habit then it becomes part of you.
Focus, Attention and Concentration

We use our eyes to see things outside our physical body,
Within our eyes we have lenses these lenses helps us to focus on specific depth and dimensions of space, with the focus you can make sharper images to clarify an object
The place where we focus our eyes’s lense is where
Our attention is, and the amount of attention we focus on specific place and time is concentration.
One must keep in mind that focus is merely a product of our eyes it goes beyond the eyes, you can focus you attention internal and external but I use the eyes to demonstrate the true potential of these three factors, it is the product of consciousness, that’s why we can flex and relax our muscles as a lower form of divergence and convergence. Our Consciousness inhibits our physical body as a fixed focus that’s why when you are meditating and you use relaxation technique you raise your consciousness to another level, as I said earlier in my other article our consciousness can be represented as a form or torus the convergence and divergence of energy.
The Definition of focus is:
A point at which rays of light or other radiation converge or from which they appear to diverge, as after refraction or reflection in an optical system
Now here comes the trick part, the ability to perceive the world around us depends on the level of consciousness we are, with our physical eyes we can only focus our attention within few diameter around us. If you have attain higher level of consciousness you can focus your attention beyond time and space and perceive what is beyond you will be able to view the microcosmic world and pierce through. That’s why some theosophists using yogic powers could accurately describe the sub-atomic composition of all known chemical elements and some are yet to be discovered by scientist
Piercing down to the level of Quarks and beyond.
With these three factors (focus, attention and concentration) you are able to change your life instantly, just imagine having a scattered mind, you never get anything accomplished you jump from one task to another without accomplishing anything, with higher focus and concentration you perform one task with high efficiency and faster.
How to gain concentration
First we need to define what concentration is, the simples definition I can come up with is to bring something into oneness, the act of focusing or extended focus. The definition says it all, we gain concentration by putting our attention into one specific point, and the more you do it the more concentration you will get,
As we all know our brain operates in different frequency, since focus is the concentration of light, then we can have musical frequency that can tune our brain into one freguency so that we can have higher focus. Calmness and clarity promotes concentration.
Power Of Your Imagination
Imagine you are in the kitchen. You take a fresh lemon from the fruit bowl. It is cool in your hand. The yellow dimpled skin feels smooth and waxy. It comes to a small green conical point at either end. The lemon is firm and quite heavy for its size as you look at it in the palm of your hand.
You raise the lemon to your nose. It gives off such a characteristic, unmistakable citrus smell doesn’t it? You take a sharp knife and cut the lemon in half. The two halves fall apart, the white pulpy outer skin contrasting with the drops of pale lemon coloured juice that gently ooze out. The lemon smell is now slightly stronger.
Now you bite deeply into the lemon and let the juice swirl around your mouth. That sharp sour lemon flavour is unmistakable. Stop a minute! Is your mouth watering? Did your mouth pucker? If it is, you have achieved synaesthesia, because you imagined the feel, sight, smell and taste of the lemon. You have used your imagination well. The implications are fascinating, because of course, nothing actually happened – except in your imagination! Yet your mind communicated directly to your salivary glands and told them to wash away the sour taste.
The words you read were not reality – but they created reality – your flow of saliva. The subconscious mind cannot differentiate between what is real and what it believes is real. Yet it directly controls your actions in a very tangible way.
“There’s Nothing Good or Bad but Thinking Makes It So” ~Hamlet
“Man freezes to death in refrigeration car”. The 1964 headline was hardly startling, but the circumstances were. A man had become trapped inside the refrigeration car as the door accidently slammed on him. When he was found, he had all the physical symptons of having frozen to death. Yet the refrigeration unit was switched off and at no time had the temperature been at, or even close, to freezing. He believed he was going to freeze – and his mind had produced the physical effect to create hypothermia and freeze him to death.
A man lay quietly in an Haitian hut, resigned to the inevitability of death. He had seen the voodoo doll in his likeness with pins stuck in it. In reality he was perfectly healthy, but his mind had accepted the inevitable, and he had subconsciously willed himself to die. Only the intervention of a priest, who destroyed the doll in front of him, saved the Haitian’s life.
The above instances are alI examples of self fulfilling prophesies brought about by suggestion. There are thousands more.
Children invited into the New York University’s Department of Psychology were assessed according to the wealth of their parents. They were then asked to estimate the physical size of a group of coins. The poorer children ALL over-estimated the actual size, the richer ones ALL under-estimated the real size.
Double Blind Experiment
Dr. Rosenthal, a California psychologist, administered I.Q. tests to a public school class. He totally ignored the results, but nevertheless divided the class into two groups. The first group, he informed the teacher, was considerably brighter than the second. There was, in fact, no difference. The children were never told his conclusions and the teacher was told to treat all the pupils the same, He did the same to the teachers telling them they were the best chosen teachers, and told them not to tell anyone else about it.
Eight months later the grades of the two arbitrarily classified groups were compared. The first group had grades 28% better than the second group and their I.Q.’s actually measured higher! Without one word being said, the teacher had managed to communicate, quite unconsciously, a higher expectation of the first group and a lower expectation of the second group. ALL WITHOUT THE SUBJECTS EVEN KNOWING. The teacher had created a better learning environment for the favoured group, and it worked.
Students in a Bulgarian class were asked to memorise a poem. Another identically matched class was also asked to memorise the same poem, but this time they were told the author – who was a famous and respected poet. The second group remembered 60% more than the first group, in the same time period. The authority of the author suggested it was important to learn.
We act not according to what things really are – but according to what we expect them to be: believe them to be: imagine them to be.
“Imagination,” said Napoleon, “rules the world”.
He should have known, for he actually rehearsed every battle he ever fought weeks before the event in his mind. Going over his own tactics, visualising the enemy defences, their reaction and the terraine.
Napoleon was 150 years ahead of his time.
Jack Niclaus ascribes his success to visualisation. Before every shot, he actually “sees” the club strike the ball, watches the flight of the ball in the air and “sees” where it comes to rest all before he actually makes the shot. Top tennis pro’s do it. “Golf is 90% mental, 10% mechanical. “wrote Alex Morrison the father of modern golf teaching. The same can be said of many other sports and the visualisation technique is now widely known as the “Inner Game of Tennis”.

What is Astral projection / Out of body experiences?
Before you learn how to astral project let’s explore what it is. Astral projection: is when a person consciously projects their awareness out side their physical body.
Out of body experiences: These are experiences that occur naturally when a person’s consciousness leaves their physical body.
The only difference between astral projection and out of body experience is you astral project to achieve out of body experience.
Another difference between Remote viewing and out of body experience is that you don’t have to leave your physical body to perceive the distance information, while while in out of body experience you can actually be where you are remote viewing…more like watching a movie in virtue reality and watching a movie on a two dimensional images.
just like everything else there are different levels of astral projection and the more you do it the better of a navigator you become, people do it for years and still realize that they have only just scratch the surface of the ice berg, the way you navigate in the astral place is totally different with the physical, your tools is your thought, think it and become it..think it and get there..but it’s not as easy as it sounds..if you think about your body you just go right back into your bed. that’s why guided meditation can be usefully for concentration and focus.
What Can you do with Astral Projection?
While astral projecting you can visit any type of world you want, and the experiences you have in the astral planes are more than in the physical body, just to list the few things what you can do with astral projection;
- Past life Regression, with astral projection you can visit your many past lives and discover your true identity and purpose in life .
- Travel in multi-dimensional reality and parallel worlds as william Buhlman explained in his book Secret of the soul
- Access the Famous place known as Akashic Records; where there is all source of knowledge and wisdom
- Get to meet with the advanced beings, spiritual guides, famous religious figures, extra terrestrial etc.
- Walk through solid walls, travel in other planets, mars, ancient civilizations etc
- Meet your loved ones that have crossed over.
- Learn to see auras
- Get bright new ideas and inspirations to solve your daily problems
- Self Healing
While doing astral projection you always get something in return; as for now you would have to agree with me that nothing is ever free there is the law of cause and effect: some of the things that you gain while astral projecting are;
- Enhance your sixth sense or your psychic abilities, you start hearing people’s thoughts, if they have bad intention you would immediately feel it, sometimes you would create a series of coincidences that will lead you into places you never expected to be.
- Release stress and Anxiety, when astral projecting you are more relaxed than ever and allow you physical body to repair and rejuvenate itself.
- Raise your awareness and see the world in the bigger picture.
how do you Achieve Astral Projection:
Affirmation For Astral projection
As I wrote earlier in my other article how to program your mind, affirmations are very powerful to program your subconscious mind.
With affirmation you make a simple statement that will impress upon your subconscious mind and condition yourself to be awake and aware while your physical body is relaxed, Out of body experience it’s something that we do every night just that we don’t remember, because of all the ‘junk’ we have in our mind. So just before you go to sleep you want to affirm this statement … “MY BODY IS ASLEEP AND MY MIND IS AWAKE AND AWARE”…..”I DEMAND TO LEAVE MY BODY NOW”… repeat the statement until you fall asleep for every night until you achieve it.
Visualization Techniques on How To Astral Project
Again as I stated earlier in my other article “how to program your mind”.these concepts are important to understand in your personal growth and why they work. Visualization is the grand master in programming your mind. There are countless number of visualization exercises in the web: I will just share few
Climbing the rope; this is where you imagine yourself climbing a hanging rope step by step adding as many details as you can until you drift into sleep.
Rolling over: This is when you imagine yourself roll slowly from right to left like a floating log on water add as many details as you want keep the image in your mind until you drift into sleep.
Out side your room: Another one is when you go to sleep you can just imagine yourself in the living room, feeling the temperature, feeling the texture of your sofa….just remember and add all the details of your living room..Until you drift into sleep.
That’s just to name the few, you can read some books for more visualization techniques, i recommend the book by william buhlman The Secret of the Soul, he has been on this field for almost his entire life or like i said earlier just google it.

Prayers:
People don’t understand the power of prayers much.. all I know is if you are sincere and have a strong desire it always works, so you may pray for your guardian angels or God depends on what is your belief ask them to assist you in achieving Oobe.
Aided Methods:
If you have tried all the visualizations and affirmation and find it hard to get the results, or you get distracted easily while you are visualizing it’s best to use guided meditations so that your mind can stop wondering and focus on the exercise; it is good to set up a schedule for this either so I recommend to get those programs are are designed like a course that your can do one piece at a time. I recommend astral proct now because this website is dedicated only and only for astral projection because sometimes we face obstacles such as fear and wrong beliefs that holds us back this website is specialized in all these areas and explains more in deep details about astral projection. as i am more single goal oriented i like to recommend something that’s worth your time and effort.
Out of body exploration is one of the product i recommend for people who are serious about astral projection, for couple of reasons like;
